​Bank of Mauritius has taken several initiatives to foster innovation in the Financial Sector

Regulatory Sandbox  Authorization         


The purpose of the Guideline for Regulatory Sandbox Authorizations is to provide a framework for the issuance of RSAs by the Bank. This Guideline, while setting out the principles and objectives of the regulatory sandbox regime, provides an overview of the application process for an RSA as well as the information to be furnished by an applicant to the Bank and specifies the minimum ongoing obligations of sandbox entities. ​

Virtual Asset related Activities

This guideline sets out the principles to be followed by banks involved in activities related to virtual assets. The guideline is based on the principles set out in the second consultative document of the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision on the prudential treatment of crypto asset exposures.

Digital Banking

The purpose of this Guideline for Digital Banks is to give effect to the abovementioned provisions of the Banking Act 2004 and to set out the regulatory and supervisory framework for operating a digital bank in Mauritius. A digital bank refers to a bank carrying on banking business exclusively through digital means or electronically.
