First Edition of Hacktiv8
The first edition of Hacktiv8, held in September 2024, focused on cybersecurity and cyber-resilience, bringing together around sixty university students, grouped into seven teams, to test their ethical hacking skills.
Participants were challenged to breach predefined layers of security within a set timeframe, putting their technical expertise and problem-solving abilities to the test.
Teams earned points based on the number of security layers they successfully cracked and the time taken to complete each challenge.
Throughout the competition, participants received mentorship from university lecturers and Chief Information Security Officers from various banks, fostering a collaborative environment for learning, coaching, and knowledge-sharing between students, academics, and industry professionals.
Winning Team
After an intense competition, Team Wannacry emerged as the champions of Hacktiv8, followed by Team Nimba as the first runner-up and Team Blaster securing third place.
